This World Parkinson day has been celebrated at National Institute of Neurosciences, Shere bangla nagar, Dhaka as a scientific seminar sponsored by Incepta organised by Society of Neurologists Bangladesh, movement disorder society of Bangladesh. Dr Provat Chandra Biswas, DG of Health directorate, Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, Secretary of Health and family planning , DAB Chief Adviser Dr Farhad Halim Donar, General Secretary Dr Zahirul Islam Shakil, President Harun Al Rashid, physicians, health workers from NINS and across country attended this scientific seminar.

11 April is the birthday of Dr James Parkinson and it is commemorated in Bangladesh accordingly. At this seminar, Speakers urge, all the concerned authorities to spread this awareness to the rural people as well. So, “Bridge the care gap” motto was preferred for greater understanding among all.


The seminar started with a Rally and presentations by expert doctors on this discipline. They demonstrated that, Parkinson is accordingly curable & Bangladesh has this treatment. DG of Health said, Bangladesh is slowly moving ahead in this sector. However, it must be spread everywhere immediately. Health secretary committed stronger image of the sector and hopes it will develop as per requirement of Bangladesh. Dr Harun Al Rashid said,most of the trained doctors in foreign countries have been serving , now it is time to expand it to all. Dr Zahirul Islam Shakil said, more health workers must be added. This should be gradually expended to Division & district levels. Doctors’ safety must be ensured for a smooth health sector. Dr Farhad Halim Said, Government will perform all duties to better this sector, please let us know how to do it & where to initiate the steps. Senior officials of health ministry, doctors of all walks and health workers celebrated the seminar.
