Hitler’s hate campaign minister Joseph Goebbols’ method of continuos campaign against particular community, especially against Prof Ghulam azam, the leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami after the 1971 aftermath ; especially during Hasina’s last 16 years of regime, he came to spotlight or deep screening . As members of Gen Z, it appears to most of the youths after the changing circumstances & context that they have to understand the implications of maligning certain leaders like Ziaur Rahman, Ghulam Azam & all who opposed Indian aggression in Bangladesh .Prof Ghulam Azam, was elected as General Secretary of Students’ Union during the fierce movement of 1952 at Dhaka University. He was a topper student in Political Science Department and later on he taught same discipline at eminent Rangpur Carmichael college. At that time “Prof” was an honourary title for all College faculties & since then he became termed as Professor Azam. He went through extreme hardships after 1991 and won citizenship case in face of harshest media campaign from secular fundamentalists . His ideas were shaped by mainstream Islam rather than ideas of any specific sect or group. This reflected Jamaat’s understanding of comprehensive and liberal thoughts. Due to his political influence, whole of his family faced worst behaviour by fascist regime & his one of sons Brigadier General Abdullahil Aman Azami, the sword of his course, was forcefully retired without a single penny of pension in 2009 and later on in 2016, he was picked up state agencies and spent 8 years in secret prison without any trace. The whole world knew that he could have “mutilated”, nevertheless, he survived & resurfaced like a worthy son of a decorated father who was systematically dehumanized for quite a long time. Prof Ghulam Azam died during incarceration & his burial prayer was attended by one of the highest number of people in recorded history of Bangladesh.Despite continued campaign, his legacy of anti-hegemonic and pro-Bangladeshi ideological clothing remains vibrant till today.
