Dr.Pinaki Bhattacharya or simply Pinaki has been regarded as many things, based on particular group of people. Appearantly , he has demonstrated highest level of empathy to subjugated communities, especially muslims during the Hasina regime since 2009. His political perspective changed radically back in 2018 after some of the cruelest crackdowns on left seculars, especially Mostaque Ahmed, ex-cadet of Sylhet cadet college and an eminent photographer, made radical shifts in the minds of leftists.Pinaki was one of them who was seriously hurt and he left Bangladesh in January 2019. He could understand the profound implications of his rhetoric among his fellow comrades. Many say he was one of the figures of July. He married a muslim woman & gave birth to a boy. His episodes have been seriously objectionable to many and praiseworthy to others. He took sides like a battlefield and he won as well. His ideas have resonated much of what Noam Chomsky asserted in his whole life. His stand for the oppressed seems quite radical but not beyond cynicism. His stand on Hasina and her “laspencers ” thundered viewers beyond his borders. Some of the opinion writers regarded him a religious, indeed his deepest urge is associated with anarchy and institution building. Hope, he will be accordingly judged by the historians.
