
Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman celebrated the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Azha with army personnel, exchanging heartfelt greetings. On Thursday, May 28, 2026, he attended the Eid banquet alongside officers, JCOs, and soldiers at the Dhaka Cantonment. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Quartermaster General of the Bangladesh Army, Lieutenant General Mohammad Shahinul Haque. The event was also attended by Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, Commander of the 46 Independent Infantry Brigade Brigadier General Syed Ashiqur Rahman, and Commanding Officer of the 25 East Bengal Regiment Lt. Colonel Md. Shafiqul Islam. During the gathering, the Honorable Prime Minister delivered a brief address to the army personnel present. In his remarks, he expressed happiness and emotional connection to returning to her old and cherished cantonment area after many years. He highlighted the memorable aspects of the cantonment, including the environment, discipline, camaraderie, and the sincerity of the army members.

The advanced professional standards, sense of responsibility, and the tradition of the Bangladesh Army in supporting the nation during times of need, including disaster response, fill him with pride. He further stated that the Bangladesh Army has consistently represented the state’s trust in safeguarding the country’s independence, sovereignty, and the security of its people. The army’s contributions during national crises and its role in the country’s development will be remembered by the nation. He expressed hope that every member of the Bangladesh Army will continue to serve the nation with unwavering dedication, professionalism, and patriotism in the future. Following the banquet, the Honorable Prime Minister inspected the soldier line of the unit. After the inspection, he planted a sapling within the unit’s premises and signed the inspection book. Subsequently, he participated in a photo session with all officers.
