The BGB successfully prevented a push-in attempt by the BSF at multiple borders in Lalmonirhat, Panchagarh, and Chapainawabganj in North Bengal.
On Friday afternoon, numerous men, women, and children were observed waiting in the border regions at various points. BGB personnel are on high alert at the border.

The BSF attempted to push at least 33 individuals into Bangladesh across three separate borders in Lalmonirhat. This incident occurred around 5 am today, Friday, in the Barakhata, Paishattibari, Durgapur, and Dighaltari BOP areas. Officials from the 15 BGB and 61 BGB battalions, stationed at the Lalmonirhat border, confirmed the occurrence . Lt. Colonel Mehdi Imam, commander of the 15 BGB battalion, informed The Daily Star that the individuals being pushed in have been halted at the zero line of the border.
He stated, “The border situation is under close observation, and the BGB is on the highest alert to thwart any form of infiltration. We are making efforts to communicate with the BSF regarding the attempt to push them from India into Bangladesh.” The BGB media cell reported that an effort was made to push 11 individuals into Bangladesh from India around 5 am in the area overseen by the Barakhata BOP under the 61 BGB Teesta Battalion, along with 10 individuals in the Poyashttibari BOP area.
Upon receiving the alert, a BGB patrol team promptly arrived at the scene and implemented preventive measures. Consequently, the individuals being pushed in could not enter Bangladesh and are currently remaining within the Indian border. The BGB also indicated that patrolling and surveillance have been intensified in the relevant areas to manage the situation.
Simultaneously, a patrol from the Durgapur and Dighlatari BOP under the 15th BGB battalion detected the presence of 12 additional individuals in the Indian border area near border pillars 925 and 927.
When BGB members issued warnings via microphone, these individuals refrained from crossing into Bangladesh. The BGB confirmed that the individuals being pushed are remaining within the Indian border. Communication is being maintained with the 3rd BSF battalion.
This has raised questions regarding consistent push-in efforts by the West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendhu Adhikari to put pressure on Bangladesh -a step denounced by everyone.
