The Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) has organized a protest rally and submitted a memorandum to the National Press Club against the statement of so-called “journalist” Masud Kamal, a fascist enabler, demanding the protection of the dignity, professional respect and public interest of the medical community.

Doctors from different levels of the country participated in the program held at the National Press Club premises in Dhaka today. The speakers at the rally said that derogatory and ugly comments about doctors question not only the medical community, but also the overall healthcare system of the country.
This leads to spaces for foreign conspiracies to destroy national medical tourism industry and ultimately give a bad name to the country.
DAB Secretary General Professor Dr. Zahirul Islam Shakil addressed the rally. He said that doctors are working tirelessly to save people’s lives. Baseless, disrespectful and defamatory statements about them are in no way acceptable. He called for the immediate withdrawal of the relevant statement, public apology and refraining from such irresponsible comments in the future.

The speakers also added that it is inappropriate to defame any professional group in the name of freedom of expression. DAB will always be vocal in protecting the self-respect and professional dignity of doctors and, if necessary, stricter programs will be taken.
DAB has also urged Masood Kamal to apologise within 3 days or he will be have to be held responsible for untoward incidents and attacks on physicians across the country. Masood runs daily Bangla tribune and a youtube channel called Kotha. He is known to all a Kota kamal and his critics call him talkative Kamal. People now believe that he has already done worst harm to the whole health sector and when Government has doubled spendings on health service, it is imperative that all be patient and take the side of vulnerable doctors.
