We swear by Allah, we want win for Bangladesh and its 180 million people not our party in the upcoming election. Amir-e- Jamaat Dr Shafiq addresses RAOWA members in a such tone at Agargon, Dhaka.
Ameer-e-Jamaat exchanged views with retired military officers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, RAOWA members, under the slogan ‘Together Let’s Build Bangladesh’. RAOWA chairman, also the Dhaka-2 MP candidate from Jamaat, Colonel MA Haque, attended the program with his colleagues.
Today, January 12 (Monday) at 7:30 pm, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman exchanged views with retired military officers of Bangladesh Armed Forces at the Celebrity Hall of Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre in the capital.
The program began with the recitation of the Quran by Brigadier General (Retd) ABM Golam Mustafa, chaired by Colonel (Retd) Abdul Baten and moderated by Colonel (Retd) Zakaria. Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, Assistant Secretary General and Head of Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair and Central Executive Council Member Mr. Mubarak Hossain were present at the program.
Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Hasinur Rahman Bir Pratik, Major General (Retd.) Mahabub Ul Alam, Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman, Major (Retd.) Barrister Sarwar Hossain and others spoke on the occasion.
In the speech of the chief guest, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, we want an election where every citizen goes to the polling station without any challenge, votes happily and gets the reflection of the vote. Only then will the election be neutral, fair and acceptable.
The Ameer-e-Jamaat expressed surprise and said, we see the government and the Election Commission as reluctant. He also raised the question of where the problem is.
He said the prerequisite for good governance is a fair and impartial election. The government and the Election Commission must create an environment where people will vote for whoever they want. If they fail to do so, they should step down from their posts.
The Ameer-e-Jamaat warned, We do not want an election of understanding. The understanding will be with the voters of political parties, not with any authority.
Addressing the youth, he said, “You will vote this time. We will guard your vote. You will be the guardians of the nation.”
Addressing the retired military officers, he said, “You have given regional security to the nation. Now you have a social responsibility. It is most important to give something good to the next generation.”
The Jamaat Ameer said, “We are fighting against corruption. We will not engage in corruption ourselves, nor will we allow anyone else to do so. We want to pull the root of corruption.”
He said, “May we die like lions fighting for the nation and humanity.” At this time, he remembered the sacrifice of Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
He also said, “We have been together as a province of Pakistan for 23 years. At that time, those who were in West Pakistan did not treat the people of East Pakistan fairly. Later, Bangladesh was born through the Liberation War.”He also said, “During the Liberation War of 1971, war was not declared through the mouth of any civilian; it was done through the army.” History has been written on this subject only once, and it will remain intact – no matter how hard one tries. Many want to erase it, which is unfair.
He said, This was the responsibility of politicians. Because they did not do it, an army officer fulfilled this great responsibility. To deny his contribution to the nation is to deny oneself. Finally, he cordially listened to all the officers and welcomed everyone to join the program, followed by dinner.
