Bangladesh won’t bow to ICC:Dr Asif Nazrul

Sports advisor Asif Nazrul has stated that Bangladesh will not succumb to any unreasonable demands from the ICC regarding playing in India. He addressed the rumors about Scotland potentially being favored over Bangladesh, clarifying that no official communication regarding such a decision has been received.

In a statement made at the secretariat on Tuesday, Asif Nazrul remarked, “We are not officially informed of any news suggesting that Scotland will be prioritized over us. However, if the ICC, under pressure from the Indian board, attempts to impose unreasonable conditions on us, we will not comply.”

While discussing Bangladesh’s stance on playing in India, he referenced previous instances. He noted, “There have been similar situations in the past. When India declared it would not play in Pakistan, the ICC altered the venue. We also believe it is reasonable to change the venue. We cannot be coerced into playing in India through unreasonable pressure.”

From the Mustafiz issue to the recent diplomatic stance, Bangladesh is now working to assert its position beyond the cricket field as well. This statement suggests that Bangladesh may adopt a firmer approach in the future if its conditions are not addressed.
