Ambassador Brent Christensen, the newly appointed US Ambassador to Dhaka, has reaffirmed the United States’ robust backing for Bangladesh’s democratic transition. He also commended the interim government’s efforts regarding the upcoming elections and reform initiatives.
Ambassador Christensen had a meeting with National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman on Thursday afternoon. The discussion, which lasted approximately an hour at the National Security Advisor’s office, covered several significant topics concerning Bangladesh-US relations, as stated in a press release from the Office of the Chief Advisor.
The meeting addressed the mutual customs agreement between the two nations, humanitarian aid for the Rohingya, immigration matters including visa bonds, and the repatriation of undocumented Bangladeshis living in the United States, according to the release. Furthermore, discussions included US business and investment prospects in Bangladesh, the enhancement of economic collaboration, and regional issues of shared interest to both countries.
A statement from the Office of the Principal Advisor indicated that Ambassador Christensen reiterated the United States’ commitment to political stability and the enhancement of the democratic process in Bangladesh.
He emphasized that free, fair, and inclusive elections are crucial for the democratic advancement of Bangladesh.
National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman welcomed Ambassador Christensen as the newly appointed Ambassador to Bangladesh.
He reminisced about Ambassador Christensen’s previous service in Dhaka and his contributions to the development of Bangladesh-US relations from various roles within the US government in Washington, DC, as per a release from the Office of the Chief Advisor.
Khalilur Rahman expressed optimism that the bilateral relations between the two nations will be further solidified and mutual cooperation will achieve new heights during the current term.

Amidst this, Both the nations have built stronger bilateral talks to carry the warmest relations ahead in all issues of concern.
