
Surovi, a school of less privileged kids at Dhaka today hosted US Special Envoy for Best Future Generation Charles J. Harder, together with the US Ambassador and other senior officials, at Surovi School in Dhanmondi. During this significant visit focused on children’s education, health, and well-being. The visit began today at 10:00 AM and reflected a shared commitment to advancing meaningful partnerships for the benefit of Bangladesh’s next generation.
The visit comes amid renewed emphasis on Bangladesh-US cooperation in the fields of education and child welfare. According to public reporting, Special Envoy Harder is in Bangladesh to strengthen strategic cooperation on education and the well-being of children, with particular attention to healthcare, food security, WASH, and broader child protection priorities.
On behalf of Surovi, the distinguished guests were received by its founder, MST Iqbal Mand Banu, along with Dr Zubaida Rahaman,wife of Prime Minister , Shahina Khan Zaman, and other officials associated with the organization. Their presence underscored Surovi’s longstanding dedication to inclusive education, child development, and social welfare.
Furthermore , Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) organized a free health check-up programme for students of Surovi School. The medical initiative included dental, eye, and general paediatric examinations, through which more than 300 students received health screenings during the programme.
Representing Ziaur Rahman Foundation, the delegation included Vice President Dr. Zubaida Rahaman, Executive Director Prof. Farhad Haleem Donar, Director of ZRF, Prof. Morshed Hasan Khan, Barrister Zaima Rahaman, Dr. Mostafa Aziz Sumon, and Dr. Aman Ullah. Their participation highlighted ZRF’s commitment to extending community-based health and social support services to children and families.
During the program, both Surovi and ZRF presented their years of work and institutional contributions through two documentaries, followed by discussions on future opportunities for collaboration. The exchange created a constructive platform to highlight long-term impact, strengthen understanding among stakeholders, and explore potential pathways for expanded cooperation in education, health, and child-friendly development.
The event was also attended by Dr Mahadi Amin, Education Adviser to the Prime Minister, whose presence added further significance to the occasion and reflected broader interest in initiatives that promote the welfare, education, and healthy development of children.
Today’s visit marked an important moment for Surovi and ZRF as they reaffirmed their commitment to serving children through education, healthcare access, and community engagement.
