Home sweet Home, PM visits Bogura

Yesterday marked a significant and unforgettable occasion for the residents of Bogra. After a prolonged anticipation, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman made his inaugural visit to Bogra, filling the city with a celebratory spirit. This visit, being his first since taking office, was met with immense excitement from the local populace. However, amidst this festive environment, a pall of sorrow was cast by the presence of organized pickpockets and thieves.

A multitude of individuals from various regions of the country converged in Bogra to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Exploiting the large crowd, pickpockets and robbers unleashed chaos. Reports indicate that between 1000 and 1500 mobile phones were stolen and robbed throughout the city yesterday. Additionally, many individuals lost their cash. Numerous citizens returned home impoverished at the end of the day after coming to see their cherished leader.

The security measures implemented by law enforcement agencies for this significant event have sparked considerable outrage among the general public. There are claims that the administration’s efforts to combat pickpocketing were utterly insufficient. Despite the Mandapatti area being particularly notorious for such criminal activities, no effective preventive actions were observed there.

Victims have reported that professional pickpockets from various parts of the country had established a presence in Bogra in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit. It is believed that these despicable thefts occurred due to the administration’s failure to provide timely intelligence information.

A large gathering of victims was seen at the Bogra Sadar Police Station from morning until evening yesterday. Alongside ordinary citizens, teachers and journalists were also in line to file general diaries (GD) regarding their lost mobile phones and money. Many expressed their sorrow over the loss of their treasured possessions.

Concerned individuals have questioned the apparent ‘weakness’ of law enforcement agencies during such a significant state visit. The residents of Bogra are left wondering how such a situation could arise.
