Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has conveyed this message to everyone on recalling the sacrifice of the UN peace keeping mission of Bangladesh.
The United Nations peacekeeping operation is a unique initiative in ensuring world peace, stability and human security. Peacekeepers have been working with great courage, patience and dedication to restore peace in regions affected by conflict, violence and humanitarian crises. On the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, I extend my sincere greetings and deep respect to all peacekeepers around the world.
I remember with deep respect the contribution of the brave peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives while carrying out the great responsibility of establishing world peace. Their sacrifice will be forever remembered in the history of the nation. At the same time, I express my deepest condolences to the injured and affected peacekeepers and their family members.
Bangladesh has been making an important contribution to the United Nations peacekeeping operation for a long time. Our peacekeepers have enhanced the reputation of the country by demonstrating professionalism, skills and humanitarian values in different countries of the world. Their responsible role has further strengthened Bangladesh’s position in the international arena.
Currently, Bangladesh is one of the countries sending the most peacekeepers to the United Nations peacekeeping operation! Bangladeshi women peacekeepers are also playing an important role in international peacekeeping operations. They have earned global acclaim through their skills, leadership and professional capabilities.
This is a shining reflection of women’s empowerment and the development of Bangladesh. We believe that it is possible to build a safe and peaceful world based on mutual respect, cooperation and tolerance. Bangladesh will continue to actively participate in the United Nations’ initiatives to establish world peace in the future.
